Island Park, Long Island, New York Island Park is a village located within the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, Long Island, New York in the United States. Island Park is known for its good food, surf, athletics and waterside dining and dancing. A sleepy little fishing village with a mix of home styles and residents, Island Park is ideal for young families and seniors alike. Its schools, the Francis X. Hegarty elementary school and the Lincoln Orens Middle school rank amongst the highest in the state. The town and village are too small to have a high school so the families can chose between two outstanding public high schools Long Beach High school and West Hempstead High School. The village of Island Park is bordered on the west by a man-made canal running parallel to Suffolk Road. Its north, east, and southern border is delineated by the rails of the Long Beach Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The Island Park LIRR station provides commuters with a direct link to New York City. Like many other waterside communities, Island Park really buzzes during the summertime!
