Long Island Counties, Towns, and Villages
Long Island is comprised of four counties: Nassau, Suffolk,
Queens, and Kings (more commonly called Brooklyn). Generally, when people talk
about Long Island, they are referring to Nassau and Suffolk Counties only, as we
will here.
Nassau County is made up of three towns: Hempstead, North
Hempstead, and Oyster Bay. There are also two cities in Nassau County: Glen Cove
and Long Beach. Suffolk County includes ten towns: Babylon, Brookhaven, East
Hampton, Huntington, Islip, Riverhead, Shelter Island, Smithtown, Southampton,
